How to Request Data Deletion

This policy outlines the procedures for data deletion from the OpenClaw platform. We are committed to protecting your data and providing you with control over your information.

Data That Will Be Deleted

When you use OpenClaw, we collect certain data to provide and improve our services. The data we collect includes:

  • Account Information: Your email address, password hash, and account settings.
  • Node Configuration: Configurations and settings for your deployed AI chatbot nodes.
  • Order Records: History of your subscriptions and payments.
  • Usage Data: Metrics related to your node's performance and resource consumption.
  • Support Tickets: History of your support requests and our responses.

Data Retention

You can request the deletion of your data through one of the following methods:

Method 1: Automated Deletion via Your Dashboard

  1. Log in to your OpenClaw account.
  2. Navigate to the 'Settings' page.
  3. Find the 'Data Deletion' section.
  4. Click the 'Request Data Deletion' button.
  5. Confirm your request by following the on-screen instructions.

Method 2: Manual Request via Email

If you cannot access your account, you can email us with the following information:

  • Your full name and the email address associated with your account.
  • A clear statement that you wish to delete your data.
  • Any additional information that can help us verify your identity.
  • Send the email to [email protected].

Processing Timeline

Once a deletion request is received and verified, we will initiate the following process:

Deletion Request Received

(24 Hours)

Your account is scheduled for deletion. You can cancel the request during this period.

Account Suspension

(7 Days)

Your account is suspended, and all active nodes are terminated. Data is not yet deleted.

Data Deletion

(14 Days)

All your data, including account information and node configurations, is permanently deleted from our production databases.

Backup Purge

(Up to 30 Days)

Your data may remain in our backup archives for a limited period before being permanently erased.

Please note that the entire process may take up to 30 days to complete.

Contact Us

Data deletion is a permanent action. The consequences include:

  • Account Irrecoverable: Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
  • Nodes Destroyed: All your deployed nodes and their data will be permanently destroyed.
  • Subscriptions Cancelled: All active subscriptions will be cancelled immediately without a refund for the remaining period.
  • Support Tickets Cleared: Your support ticket history will be deleted.
  • Balance Cleared: Any remaining account balance will be forfeited.

6. Data Retention

For legal and security reasons, we may retain some data for a longer period, including:

  • Financial Records: We are required by law to retain financial records, such as invoices and payment history, for a specific period.
  • Legal Compliance: Data may be retained to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
  • Security Logs: Anonymized security logs may be kept for security analysis and to prevent fraud.

We retain this data only as long as necessary and in accordance with applicable laws.

7. Verification and Confirmation

To ensure the security of your account, we will take the following steps to verify your request:

  1. Acknowledge receipt of your request via email.
  2. Send a verification link to your registered email address.
  3. Require you to answer security questions if set up.
  4. For manual requests, we may ask for additional proof of identity.
  5. Once verified, we will proceed with the deletion process.

After your data has been removed, we will notify you via your registered email address.

Verification: We will contact you to verify your identity and confirm the deletion request. Please respond to our verification attempts.
